Liz Gavin
Owner & Head Trainer
Liz Gavin is a lifelong horsewoman, professional trainer, and Florida native with a strong foundation in both competitive riding and horsemanship. She began riding at the age of 6 and was starting ponies by 12. By 18, Liz had turned professional, dedicating her life to developing horses and riders with patience, clarity, and skill.
Liz has successfully competed across multiple disciplines, including:
Show Jumping up to 1.30m (schooling to 1.45m)
Hunters up to 3’ (schooling to 4’)
Eventing through Novice level (schooling Intermediate)
Dressage to Second Level (schooling Fourth Level)
Her diverse show experience reflects not only her versatility but also her deep understanding of correct training principles across disciplines. Liz is known for her ability to bring out the best in every horse, whether starting feral or green colts from the ground up, or refining the skills of seasoned show horses.
In addition to her equestrian career, Liz holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied and Computational Mathematics from Florida State University, earned in 2008 at the age of 20. Her analytical background informs her thoughtful, systematic approach to training.
Originally from Florida, Liz now offers training and lessons in Woodside and Portola Valley, California, specializing in starting and retraining horses and ponies of all types. Her work is rooted in clear communication, feel, and a deep respect for the horse—creating confident, balanced partners both on the ground and under saddle.

Madison Colgate
Website & Social Media Manager
Madison is a lifelong horse enthusiast who grew up near Woodside, California, where she spent her childhood immersed in nature. From beach rides to backcountry camping, her love for the outdoors has always gone hand in hand with her passion for horses.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English with a focus in Creative Writing from San José State University, balancing her studies with hospitality roles across California. Since graduating, Madison has dedicated her time to supporting local equestrian non-profits through both volunteer work and professional roles.
While Madison has never competed in any equestrian sport, she holds a deep respect and enduring love for all things Western and horsemanship. Her passion lies in the bond between horse and rider, and in the everyday beauty of life in the saddle.
Currently, she works full time as an Administrative Assistant and continues to stay deeply involved in the equestrian community. She leases Blue, one of Roany Pony Equestrian’s beloved lesson horses, and manages the organization’s social media, website, and community correspondence.

Pippy Long-Stocking
Assistant Canine & Barn Sweetheart
Meet Pippy, our beloved Vizsla and the unofficial (but highly respected) Assistant to the team. With impeccable manners and a heart as big as the pasture, Pippy is a constant presence at the barn. She greets students with a gentle wag, supervising lessons with quiet enthusiasm, and always ready to hit the trail when adventure calls.Whether she's trotting alongside horses, offering moral support to new riders, or basking in the sun after a busy day, Pippy brings joy, calm, and a touch of class to everything she does. She's not just a dog—she's part of the team, and the barn wouldn’t be the same without her.
